Wisdom from Oswald Chambers
Am I learning how to use my Bible? The way to become complete for the Master’s service is to be well soaked in the Bible; some of us only exploit certain passages. Our Lord wants to give us continuous instruction out of His word; continuous instruction turns hearers into disciples. Approved Unto God, 11 L
Comment: no long message this morning, but still an important message. Whether or not we are on holidays, and if we really and truly pray and hope to become disciples of Christ. Set apart to do good works, which of a priori importance is to spread abroad the Good News that Jesus saves. And as I write the Spirit of a mighty and teaching God, places in my mind strains of this wonderful hymn which I have not met for many a moon. Mercy! Not sure if it is hymn book accurate as I had to google it. But the general thrust is there.
1We have heard the joyful sound:

So what’s the message this morning. And every morning. No matter where we are in life, no matter who we are, no matter what we are celebrating, the primary role of a disciple is to let the whole world know, in word and in deed, that Jesus saves. “ Tell to sinners far and wide” , that within the Word of God, is the Good News that Jesus saves: from shotta driving on the roads – the news of the day , from masculine toxicity – the primary cause of violence in the home, from murder, and murder most foul – the number one problem in Jamaica and the USA, and in the Middle East, from the perpetuation of social and economic injustice- the reason for so many #wrongaddresses in Jamaica and Haiti, from gross immorality which is being accepted and spread abroad in western society, and O my God in the very church of a Holy God, and even from the ravages of Climate change, as it all began when men sought to maximize profits and engage in unsustainable development .
May the Holy One of Israel, the God of Jacob and the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Crucified and Risen and soon coming again to Judge the living and the dead, enable us to:
“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.””
Acts 4:29-30 NIV
Why? Because those who are soaked in the Word as Oswald Chambers recommends, and become disciples and not just hearers of the Word ( read James 1:22) , will be attacked by evil forces. Trying to keep us quiet and afraid and encourage us to “ be like them”, rather than turn to God. And our response is to speak the Word of God fearlessly and look to God to perform the miracles. The greatest of which in this context, is the to “ convict the world of Sin” – one of the promised roles of the “ another comforter “, the Holy Spirit, the author and perfecter of all of what I write in obedience, or say or do any good deed. ( whatever I write in the flesh is of no importance and pray God, that does not happen often).
Lord we beseech thee to renew thy church with thy Word which we store up in our hearts as disciples and not just hearers; Lord we beseech thee to renew thy church that the church may renew the nation(s), where news about Donald Trump and google search for pornography and watching movies and social media and the pleasures of life have either replaced your Word, or in some instances even, O my God, caused the “ seed sown by the sower” to wither and die and become overgrown by thorns . And produce no or little fruit.
